October is the month Corfu stops being one place and becomes two, and the trip turns entirely on which of them you book. The resort coast is winding down. Corfu Town is not, and never does, because it was never a resort — it is the working capital of the region, with a university, a year-round population and arcaded cafés that fill in any weather.
The rain is the price of the green
Corfu is the greenest of the large Greek islands and rainfall is the reason. The Ionian catches Adriatic weather that the Aegean never sees, and autumn is when it starts arriving. October is not wet the way November is wet, but the pattern changes: long clear runs broken by a serious day or two, rather than the unbroken dry of high summer.
Compensation comes from the water. The sea is still carrying the heat the summer put into it, its annual peak just behind rather than ahead, so swimming stays comfortable deep into the month and is far better than anything spring offers. Beach days are available. They are not guaranteed, and a plan that depends on five of them in a row will be disappointed.

Read that as a booking instruction rather than a weather report. A bay that was the obvious choice in July can be the wrong one now, not because it stops being beautiful but because everything around it has closed.
Booking around the weather instead of hoping
Two things make an October week robust.
