What we hold, and why.

Reading the site

You can read every edition without giving us anything. There is no account, no login and no newsletter sign-up. We set no advertising or tracking cookies of our own.

What is collected

• Anything you type into the enquiry form. Your name and email, plus whatever optional context you choose to add — destination, dates, party size, budget band — and your message.
• Aggregate page analytics. Vercel Web Analytics records page views and referrers without cookies and without building a profile of an individual visitor.
• Standard server logs. Our hosting keeps short-lived request logs, including IP address, as every web server does. We use them to keep the site up and to stop automated abuse of the enquiry form.

Who processes it

• Vercel hosts the site and provides the analytics described above.
• Resend delivers enquiry-form messages to our inbox. Your message and contact details pass through their service to reach us.
• Supabase stores the destination database that the editions are built from. It holds no reader data.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces. Your browser requests them from Google, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No other data is sent, and we set no Google cookie.

Affiliate links

Some links to booking and travel partners carry a tracking parameter so a booking can be credited to this publication. Following one takes you to that company's own site, where their cookies and their privacy policy apply, not ours. We receive aggregate reporting — clicks, bookings, commission — and never the identity of the person who booked.

Introductions

If you ask about a stay, we may think the right answer is an operator rather than a booking site. We will tell you who, and we pass your details to them only if you say yes. No enquiry is shared with a third party without your explicit agreement, and we are never paid to hand over a name.

How long it is kept

Enquiry correspondence is kept while it is useful to answering you and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to it. Ask us to delete it and we will, along with anything derived from it. Server logs age out on our host's own schedule; analytics data is aggregate and holds nothing that identifies you.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the enquiry form and say so plainly — we do not require a particular wording or form. Readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR, and readers in Australia under the Privacy Act 1988; we apply the same practice to everyone regardless of where they are.

If we have not dealt with a privacy complaint properly, an Australian reader can escalate it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and an EEA or UK reader to their national supervisory authority.

Children

This site is written for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child, and the enquiry form asks for nothing that would identify one.

Changes

When the site changes what it collects, this page changes with it and the date below moves. We do not quietly broaden it.
