Not especially, once you stop paying for the window. Slovenia is not an expensive country and that shows on most lines of a Bled bill — but the lake concentrates its costs into a few specific decisions, and travellers who make those decisions without noticing them are the ones who come home saying it was dear.
The view is the premium, and it is optional
A shore this short was built on long ago, so a room with the island in the frame is a scarce thing sold at scarcity prices. The view is where the money goes, and it is a line you can choose not to pay. Step one street back from the promenade, or up the slope, or out to a village down the valley, and the rate eases markedly while the lake stays exactly where it was — a walk of minutes away, free to look at, open at every hour.

The crossing is a service, not a ticket
Engines are banned on the water, so reaching the island means a traditional flat-bottomed boat rowed standing by a local oarsman, or a hired rowing boat and your own arms. The first is labour rather than fuel and is charged accordingly; the second costs less and takes longer, which for most people is the better trade on a calm morning. Neither is compulsory: the church looks better from the shore than the shore looks from the church.
Most of the good things here are free
Height costs nothing. The circuit path, the wooded climbs to the viewpoints, swimming off the public banks in summer — none of these charge, and between them they account for a large share of what people photograph and remember. The castle on the cliff asks for an admission and is worth it; beyond that, the expensive-looking version of Bled is largely a matter of where you eat and where you sleep.
